To You The Business Owner, This One’s For You.
To you.. the business owner, just trying your best. This one’s for you.
I decided to write this post after scrolling through Facebook for hours. Yep, we’ve all been there…scrolllling! Most the time I sit there comparing myself to everyone else, then finding myself sink deep into my chair thinking that everyone else is further ahead than I am, better than I am, more talented, prettier, have more friends, more experience, etc.
Oh my gosh, I tell you, it’s mentally and emotionally exhausting! And then, to add to all of that, there are these ads.
“You need to learn this.”
“You need to do this.”
“This is the only way you will get subscribers, become successful and have a good business.”
I don’t know about you but I am exhausted by all of it! My brain needs a break from all the “you should do, you need to do, you have to do, in order to. . . ”
I’m here to give you some good news though!
You’re exactly where you need to be, and the moment you stop comparing yourself to everyone and everything is when your life is going to change.
You think you need to sprint when you don’t know how to walk yet. Not possible!
You feel like you’re a horrible parent because you aren’t at your child’s side every second of every day. Not true!
You feel frustrated that you only have 500 followers yet you started your account only a week ago. It takes time!
Darling, what’s the rush? Breathe! Look around you.
Seriously.
Look at all that you have done! Look at all that you have become. Look at all that you have accomplished.
Maybe you’ve learned how to create a website.
Maybe you’ve built up the courage to step outside of your comfort zone long enough to attend an evening networking event.
Maybe you decided to take the leap of faith to quit your stable job to follow your dreams.
Maybe, just maybe, you got up out of bed this morning and that alone was difficult because you are experiencing burnout, overwhelm, and depression.
Whatever it may be, just remember that you’re exactly where you are supposed to be.
There will always be someone doing more than you. There will always be another course that you could take or a book that you should read or an event that you should attend. But at the end of the day, if we don’t stop to appreciate and acknowledge all that we’ve done and all that we’ve become throughout the journey, then we will die before we ever feel like we’ve done enough.
You are enough, you’re doing enough, and my goodness, chances are you are totally kicking ass, too!
Add kids to the equation and my goodness- you’re stronger than most people you know, I’m sure! But again, it’s not about comparing yourself to anyone or anything else.
Keep your chin up, celebrate often (even if it’s as little as drinking a glass of water), laugh till you cry, celebrate again and keeeeeeep on going!
“Life is tough darling, but so are you.” – Unknown
Ps, one piece of organizing advice for you since I guess I am the expert in this, is this! By keeping your space decluttered, your mind will become a lot more clear and a lot more clam. Which in turn will allow you to slow down, relax, refocus and breath! A cluttered office, bedroom, or kitchen table, for example, will distract you from your goals. It will also (possibly) make you feel overwhelmed, stressed, depressed, trapped, stuck, anxious, defeated, etc. It’s time to get a hold of your space! By creating a clear intention of your space, for example:
“The top of my desk is intended to be clear at all times except for my laptop, phone, notepad and pen”
then you are more likely to stick to this. If you set zero intention of your space, then your desk can do whatever it wants and if you’re anything like the majority of people, it’s cluttered with paper, notes, and a bunch of “ill set this here until I have time to deal with it” stuff. Yes, you’re not alone! But, it doesn’t have to be that way.
Create the changes you need to in order to create the space and life that you desire. Remember to celebrate the little things and above anything else, be grateful!
I hope you enjoyed reading this. I know I went off a little bit but hey, it’s all for you! If you did like it, please share it with someone who you feel would benefit from it 🙂
